Corvette C7 ZR1 Preliminary Performance Statistics!!

Well, it certainly didn't take long for some of the major magazines and smaller outlets to leak performance testing on the new C7 ZR1.

Car and Driver has been conducting extensive testing, including a full mile run - where (as of this writing) - the car topped out at 191+ MPH. This is impressive as the C7 body - even without the aero - is a Cd (coefficient of drag) nightmare. The C7 is much less slippery than the C5 and C6 as GM wanted to increase downforce and stability. So getting a 191+ MPH run - within a mile where top speed is tricky - shows the power of this car.

Unlike C&D, Road and Track has reported on another outlets testing - and the numbers are impressive - especially for a RWD car on stock rubber. 0-60 in 2.85 and 0-100 in 6 flat. 1/4 comes in 10.6 at 134 MPH. For the power output these numbers makes sense. I would say with a tire, and some uber fantastic cool air/DA, this car in auto trim could touch a 9.9 in the 1/4 which would be a record for any stock Corvette.

That said, I believe the bigger news will be the modding options. The new Eaton 2.65L blow - almost a full Litre - bigger than the current C7 Z06 tiny unit - will be full of potential. This car with just a tune and bolt ons will easily dip well into the mid 9's at over 145 MPH.

So far - and it is early - the new C7 ZR1 is living up to and perhaps even exceeding its famous designation.

More new to come - Stay Tuned!
